Disclaimer:  This list of resources for individual counseling is made up of individuals and organizations which provide such services and have participated in the Growing Thru Grief program.  No other representation is made, either by Growing Thru Grief or its affiliated organizations or individuals, regarding these individuals and organizations.  Those seeking individual counseling must make their own decision regarding where to seek such help.  It is strongly recommended that you contact more than one potential counselor, so that your own decision is as well informed as possible.
 
 
Psychology Today Find a Therapist tool

The Find a Therapist tab on the Psychology Today website has a broad, searchable list of therapists. The list can be filtered on a large number of categories including location, insurance, therapist characteristics, and a host of other categories that may affect the counseling relationship.
 
 
Duke Hospice Bereavement Services

In the fall and spring each year, DHBS offers 8-week support groups to bring together people who have experienced a similar loss, including, Loss of a Spouse/Partner, Parent or Child. Each group meets once a week for eight weeks, and the group members attend all eight sessions. Daytime and evening groups may be available as well as in-person and virtual groups. Registration is required. If you are interested in participating in a support group, please call 919-644-6869 to schedule an initial visit or for more information. 

Licensed bereavement counselors also provide individual grief counseling for all ages to those who are grieving a loss due to death. Cost is donation-based.

Grief counseling groups are offered three times per year. Groups run for 8 weeks and meet in person at the hospice house in Pittsboro. Groups are closed so registration is required. For more information see the website or use the email listed above. There is no charge for services. 

 
Transitions GriefCare
Grief care for adults and children

Transitions GriefCare provides grief support for children (ages 5-17) and adults in our 8-county service area who are grieving a death-related loss. Our current programming schedule is: TGC-Schedule-Feb-May-2025F.pdf and will be updated soon. We also keep the calendar on our website updated.

She creates safe, sacred spaces for people navigating all kinds of loss. While not connected to any insurance plan, Heidi works with each individual to make companionship possible.
 
Heidi is the author of Pockets of Grace: Lessons from Darkness, Lessons from Light—a part memoir, part grief guidebook, part spiritual journey exploring the transformative power of loss, hope, and meaning.
